I have so many memories but two special ones to share, one brings a smi= le and the second tears.

The first year David was at ND, we invited him and a few teammates= over for dinner. Being from Texas, he was a long way from home and I= liked to provide some comfort food and hugs for our "sons". I made two large pans of chicken enchiladas (recip= e from our time in San Antonio) and (fortunately) other side dishes - buffe= ts were in at our house.... David came in, picked up one of the pans of enc= hiladas and proceeded to devour it. We all watched with amazement and, for future visits, I made one pan just for Dav= id and a couple more so everyone had a fair share. Our girls loved their &q= uot;brothers" and David was a favorite.

On the evening of November 21, 1998, we had a gathering at our hom= e celebrating an exciting victory (over LSU I believe) anticipating David w= ould be stopping by after the game. When the phone rang informing us of the accident and with the news that David was g= one, the celebration ceased and the tears fell. The life of this wonderful,= vibrant man so loved by all of us had ended in a tragic accident.

Coach Bou loved all of his players but some, like David - bigger t= han life - inspired so many stories. We had visited with David in Pho= enix after the Fiesta Bowl (at a Mexican restaurant of course). Those have always been such joyous times when we can spe= nd time with all of you, meet your families and revel in the men you have b= ecome.

A little bit of our hearts are up in heaven with those who have le= ft us way too soon. Now Coach Bou is up there with David. We thought = we heard them during the Clemson game challenging the team to victory with those voices you may still remember.

You are all in our thoughts and prayers for your health and safety= in these perilous times.
